ABOUT MEPainter and IllustratorMy name is Emanuela Marchetti. I am a painter and illustrator born in Vercelli, a little old town in Piedmont, in the North-Western part of Italy. Currently I am based in my new home, Odense, Denmark, the city of H. C. Andersen.
I own two master degrees, the first one in Archaeology and Ancient Literature, from the University of Torino (Italy) and the second one in IT Product Design, from the University of Southern Denmark. I also have a PhD from Aalborg University in Interaction Design and Learning. Trough these years, starting from my studies back in Italy, I attended several art classes: painting, drawing and clay sculpture from local artist, photography at the European Institute of Design in Torino, Italy, and animation at Odense Design Academy. Sketching and painting have always been my passion and I have specialised in watercolor and digital painting. I am particularly intrigued by the ambiguity of natural forms, their materiality and dynamism. I see natural forms as if they were crystallised in a contorted, slow tormented dance. I am fascinated by which stories natural forms can inspire, while focusing on their details and changes in perspective. My art is inspired by surrealism and more recently by the archival art trend, in which techniques and aesthetics from naturalistic and botanical illustrations are rethought as fine arts Among my favourite subjects: naturalistic paintings and illustration, urban sketching, portraits, and food. I have gained experience with making illustrations for books and scientific publications, a path I wish to continue pursuing. I hope you like my artwork and if you are interested in buying or ordering a painting or discuss a possible collaboration, please just drop me a line ;) |

I am a restless dreamer, it is hard for me to open up to the world, but I have to if I want to achieve anything as an artist, well better late than never ;)
In my blog I am going to show you the back stories, inspiration source and creative process behind my work and I am also going to experiment with small storytelling works. |
